The curious do not know what they are getting themselves into. Do you have
to be "in" to go to a karkowski event? I'm all for visceral noise music,
but it's simply not a good thing to cause lasting physical damage to bodies
or other people's equipment. Well, breaking the toilet was a good thing,
but eardrums and music gear should be off limits :). I saw a great
performance of Scott Arford and Randy Yau that was very loud and
somewhat noisy, but the venue provided ample warning and earplugs, so all
was good. The other wonderful thing is that the sound was done REALLY
nicely, so those nasty nasty frequencies that will make even an 80db level
sound loud were not dominating.

>Sound has no meaning. It just is.

Uh...what about language? What about the gradations between language and
music? Then what about music? No meaning in context of the universe,
agreed, but there is meaning in context of the human race. The meaning, of
course, is not agreed upon....

Speaking of excessive sound...keep your eyes open in the next few years for
class action lawsuits against perhaps music venues, artists, promoters, or
manufacturers of equipment of "loud" music. As the population who has
attended a lot of loud music ages and they lose their hearing and their
indignant, property-owning asses rise up, there will no doubt be some
attempt at recouping their "loss." Also, keep your eyes out for a company
that makes the miracle hearing aid and/or tinnitus cure. Buy stock in it,
and you will be rich :)
