Well put, Pelagius.  We need to make mistakes and find what works in order
for us to clear a path to better ways of thinking.

By the by, anyone heard of Quiet American?  Someone you all should really
look into.  A brilliant environmental sound, er, practitioner...  I'm at a
loss for how to describe his music...

Of course!  I find it frightening that you would even ask that.  How could a
person's intellectual philosophy not influence all of their actions and
decisions in life?  Cage being a relevant positive example here.

I find that my "theoretical beliefs" are immensely useful in the "real"
world despite the hostility of those who dismiss such ideas as idealistic
fantasies.  In fact testing these theories out in the "real" world helps me
uncover and avoid people who seem quite friendly but are in fact closet
racists or fascists.
