one of the problems i think that a number of people, myself included, have with flash is precisely that it tries to bring cinema to the internet. now, i have seen some very interactive and sporty things done with flash (check vectorpark.com or huge's site) but its abuses far outweigh its triumphs. in most cases, flash is used to put a little commercial into a brochure type web site. i think jakob nielson would agree that animation and little movies are not at all usable and ultimately reduce the role of the web user to mere viewer.
personally, i don't even think that movies should be shown on television sets as they are not designed for such usage. i really think you have to be in a big dark room to see a movie the right way. at the very least you need the "widescreen" addition...
