The Experimental Show Information

The Experimental Show 4: FLARB a multi-media double-feature

May 30th, 7 to 11 pm from 7 to 8 pm at the Screening room in The
Wolfsonian-FIU Museum and from 8 to 11 pm at the Hotel Astor

curated by Elizabeth Hall theexpshow@xxxxxxxxx

As Crissa-Jean Chapell writes about The Experimental Show in NY Arts
Magazine: With little advertising, they created a kind of non-partisan buzz.
"It's not about having a curatorial vision," Elizabeth explains. "It's about
giving an artist a chance to have their work be seen and having the public
and the art community a chance to see the work." Seeking out a range of
experimental artists who create risky, cutting-edge films....

Starting off at the Wolfsonian-FIU, join us from 7 to 8 Pm where artist
Charles Recher will present an informal hour-long discussion and screening
on the masters of abstract film (a show that will include work by Otto
Fischinger, Len Lye and Mary Ellen Butte among many others.)

Then follow us across the street to the Hotel Astor for an evening of
contemporary sound and moving-image art featuring Edward Bobb's
installation/dj set "Microscopic Lounge." Edward describes his most recent
foray into lounge sound as "... cocktail music constructed at the atomic
level, using granular synthesis and chaos theory." Also programmed is an
exciting line-up of local media artists.

As with all screenings from The Experimental Show, this screening is free
and open to the public.

The Experimental Show falls outside the traditional white cube / black box
model of video art presentation, and is dedicated moving-image art and
emerging forms of new media.

Directions:
The Wolfsonian-FIU is located at 1001 Washington Avenue in South Beach. The
Hotel Astor is located at 956 Washington Avenue, immediately across the
street, on the South West corner of Washington Avenue.
