Re: [microsound] pop will eat itself (and Moby too)

Hasn't pop music always been heavily influenced by electronics and techno since michael jackson, and prince, and wait donna summer's I feel love. In fact most electronic music in the semi-mainstream and popular culture was pop. So what does Moby bring to the stage again? Street cred, well maybe. A blend of live and electronic music? Hmm, sounds like every 80s pop band. "Moby is a genuine pop composer who happens to work electronically." Well guess what, right now that isn't the exception, that's the norm. Plus the review is basically a brief history based on album liner notes and a few press release factiods. Nothing about the music itself, the music isn't that important. What's important is Moby is freaky little bald cultural cuisinart whose geeky leanings and veganism make him the new techno freakboy mad scientist for a bunch of people who think that it's gonna sell records. And it will, but not to us. At least he isn't doing god-aweful punk rock cove
r songs anymore.
