this was possibly the radioshack pzm, long discontinued though still around secondhand. actually goes for more than it cost in the first place on ebay, surprise surprise.


it is a similar configuration to the "flat panel" mic you mention below.


both these and the coresound/ sound professionals binaurals are based on a panasonic condenser capsule which sells from radioshack, or maplin as i know it, for 2GBP.


so in the interests of saving money, why not buy a couple and make your own binaurals. it's pretty easy- at the lowest level you can simply solder the capsules to a suitable wire. there's much information out there on more complex methods- the results are very comparable, for a fraction of the cost...
