you might try using some compression filters, maybe run your mix through a 
couple compression filters then add a bit of reverb, that mixture can 
sometimes balance the whole thing out, but thats just a very basic 
suggestion. I guess though you got to figure out how you want your stuff to 
be heard. A friend of mine did some mastering for me be he used all 
hardware.
