Perhaps sadly, there's no requirement that members of this "scene"
adhere to a socialist (or anarchist or whatever you'd like to term it)
program.

I don't feel that I'm asking anyone to adhere to any specific political philosophy (although I know there is an inherent political component to any argument like this), but I am calling attention to the fact that any community that has thrived as a result of the liberation of certain technology (i.e. the net, music software, etc.) should have some sense of responsibility when over-powering corporate interests attempt to dictate the "correct" use of that medium.

The use of internet broadcast technology has leveled the playing field for artists of all sorts. This very use of technology has allowed independent music to thrive in small communities. I can't express how important something like this is to independent musicians, artists, and thinkers of all sorts.

When large corporate interests begin to infringe and impede on the expression of independent artists, then we are all in trouble. This is a very serious issue, and one that should not be ignored by anyone who is even remotely interested in alternative media in any form. If we can't act collectively, and quickly, we will all be stranded in a land of shit music and lowest common denominator art.

There should be some kind of mobilization of this community.
