bleep ::: beep ::: BiP_HOp...
Hello,
June has been a hectic month with several BiP_Hop live eventss and happy to give a
special mention to Arty-Farty festival in Lyon. At long last, France has a tasty
electronica festival happening in a huge warehouse, beside Saone river? Almost the
feeling of being on holidays with the music of Rechenzentrum, Schneider TM, Tennis,
Si-cut.db, KPT Michigan, Dat Politics, yours truly DJing and some local acts? We had
a great time and hope it works that well next year. Kudos !
Hope that you are getting ready for some nice holidays. We are almost ready for some
well-deserved ones in Quebec, but before have to work on the release of our new
babies? Just delivered and certainly available in your favourite stores in the Summer
:
[reciprocess : +/vs.] vol. 1
Bovine Life and/or/vs. Komet (Frank Bretschneider) [bleep 10]
BiP_HOp in association with Fallt are pleased to present [reciprocess : +/vs.]. A
series of split CDs featuring the work(s) of two sound assemblers and documenting the
process of musical reciprocicality between them. As the title of the Series suggests
each issue in "Reciprocess" features two sound assemblers contributing a
collaborative work; a series of independent works; and finally, contributing a remix
of each other's work(s).
[reciprocess : +/vs.] is co-curated by Philippe Petit (BiP-HOp) and Christopher
Murphy (Fallt) and features artwork by Fallt designer's Fehler.
Andrew Duke : sprung [bleep 12]
Andrew Duke is one of Canada?s foremost techno/new electronic music
sound-assemblers. He has been performing live and recording his own music since
1987. His output has been compared to that of a wide range of artists Thomas
Brinkmann, Kit Clayton, Coil, Oval, Skinny Puppy, Lustmord, Reinhard Voigt to name a
few - yet always presents a unique and distinct ?Andrew Duke sound?. Sprung is
organic, wet sounding techno that skitters along a range of frequencies, from
scurrying subtleties to low pulsing rumbles, each brushing different areas of the
sonic spectrum.
Spaceheads : low pressure [bleep 14]
In USA and Canada licensed by Merge records.
7th album. Andy Diagram (trumpet) and Richard Harrison (drums), take their unique
sound, based on live trumpet loops, drums and electronics, to even greater sonic
extremes.
The album hangs on lazy grooves and thick harmonised trumpet chords; sleazy deep beat
brass and crushed up metallic drumbeats. Spaceheads mix the raw emotional sound of
breath with the banging of wood on skin, and push it through the blips, crackle and
distortion of pixelated electronic noise.
.... Contains remixes by Graham Massey (808 State) and the Bleach Boys.
WANG INC. : risotto in 4/4 [bleep 15]
http://www.wanginc.it
Bartolomeo Sailer comes from Italy, his first disc was released on Sonig/Thrill
Jockey and received some attention. Then he appeared on numerous compilations, up to
this long awaited new full-length.
Rice has numerous grades, various colours and shapes which can be combined to work
out an infinite collection of recipes. At the same time, a micro rhythm as the 4/4
gave birth to several musical forms. If you manipulate it with delicacy and expertise
it can become an ingredient with which it will be easy to prepare a whole range of
dishes. Some will become quite popular and appreciated, others, more experimental
recipes that can be transformed thanks to other fresh and spicy elements and
delicately seasoned with the salt of experience that has matured, with the help of
organic sounds, in Wang Inc?s electronic kitchen.
Risotto in 4/4 eventually combines the organic nature of the stomach, with the arcane
resources of the mind but never forgets to get your feet involved.
We?ll see some of you on September 19th, in Paris @ Batofar, for our BiP_Hop night
during Les Rendez-Vous Electroniques?
Or the month after (October 18th) @ Recycl?Art, in Brussels?
Alaska?. End of transmission. Take care and have a HOT summer.
