the music scene in montreal is very vibrant, perhaps the most happening in
canada.

there's the mutek festival which is amazing (laptop techno, glitch, live
pas, minimal...) - www.mutek.ca.
plus there's their world famous jazz festival which brings out all the
heavies.
plus great techno artists such as algorithm (formerly of toronto) and akufen
from the force inc label (who have their north american hq in montreal).

check out a force inc compilation called montreal smoked meat for a
selection of great montreal artists, such as akufen, pantone, deadbeat,
crackhaus, ect...

akufen is a personal favourite right now. brilliant stuff.
