the skinny on berlin

hello all -

i'm headed out for a year in berlin in a few days and thought
this list might be a good place to ask for recommendations of ways to
spend my time there.

i'm interesting in the standard city fare: music venues, bookstores,
recordstores, museums, cafes, interesting institutions, etc etc.  anything
good and unique about the city.

i'll also be looking for working starting in january or so, so
recommendations for companies or institutions that work with computer
music (either software engineering or research) would be appreciated.
