the person who heads this dept, prof gary lee nelson is...well i guess i'd
rather not say here, but in the least he is very un-professional and has
questionable ethics reguarding the approval of applications...i'm not afraid
to say it publicly or burn bridges becuase i want nothing to do with this
anymore.
apparently you have to be willing to trade shows with him in order to get
booked @ this event, which is under his thumb apparently and i might add
that i performed @ ocean a couple years ago and was not too impressed either
way. it never had this "good ole boys network" condition/clause on any
paperwork i saw or read reguarding the entry issues, but when i could not
book gary @ for a performance @ the CCCA he rather rudely let me know that i
was un-invited to his festival, even though it was the CCCA who refused his
performance app and not me...so kill the messenger in this case.
indeed tom lopez is a very cool guy doing some really interesting things and
has the highest professional ethics, so if anything go to this event to see
him or matt borghi for that matter, but don't piss off gary lee nelson or
he'll take it as a big ego blow and go outside of the approval system and
personally refuse your performance application.
