:. recor :: back-up vocal samples, black hole keyboards and space guitar
:. E23 :: textures and infinity gauntlet

The sound of Galactus Zeit consists of minimal melodies and nebulaic drones
punctuated by episodes of interstellar catastrophe and grievous equipment
failure. Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein's treatments of comic book icons,
Galactus Zeit's sonicPOP performance will offer up a spacey microsonic
tribute to the icons of mid-1960s Marvel comics: the galactic dramas inked
by Jack Kirby (Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four, The Inhumans) and the
multidimensional psychedelia of Steve Ditko (Dr. Strange).

Recent works from Galactus Zeit have been included on .microsound.org's MP3
compilations: Parasites Rework and The McDonna Projects. An extended
collection, "Analog Kosmische Musik," was released on the Communications of
Tomorrow label in January 2002.

:: upcoming sonicPOP ::

Spotlighting new explorations from performers working at the intersection of
the sonic arts and pop culture, sonicPOP provides an audio corollary to the
museum's current "POPjack: Warhol to Murakami" exhibit. Performances will
take place the third Thursday of each month throughout the duration of the
current POPjack exhibit.

> november 21, 2002 :: devslashnull

devslashnull's solo sonicPOP performance will consist of live arrangements
of his upcoming release, "Poppy," with accompanying data visualizations
realized through custom software developed in collaboration with fellow OVNI
member and electronic media pioneer Brian Kane.

george&caplin bridge the gap between pop playfulness and the crackling
atmospheres of left-field electronica. Songcraft melds with post-digital
sensibilities to create intricately layered textures from analogue
instruments (guitar, trumpet, vocals) and an array of electronic and digital
devices (keyboards, samplers, re-wired speak-and-spells).
