Re: [microsound] the anti-rhythmic imperative of the 21st Century neo-Brutists

David Fodel, I would therowly appreciate any
constructive observations as already developed under
such conseptual conversation.

Tobias,
To go through and name different predasesors is truly
impressive... it means you know your history and
prooves to me that you are well versed in the
evolution of music... (as most people on this list)
However, why must these references be quite so
ethnocentric to base things in a non/European context,
or atleast from an european>African since. But what
about more universal concepts like:

art as a form of divination utilizing media

Such things as the cutup theroy and the theroy of
language as a virus. Music especially reflects this,
as its intent is not only to fuel dance, but to create
a trance and to heal, contact spirits or other life
forms...

The songs of the south american ayahuasca shaman
guiding spirits through the under/otherworld comes to
mind as apropper example. They didn't learn how to
sing from listening to africans...

Another argument I have with your "neo-Brutism" retort
is why must music not only fit into cultural contexts
but further, genres?

again, is not music a universal phenomenon?

Is this universal phenomenon not more apparent when
different individuals arrive with the same theroys,
yet are uninflunced by eachother? I have, after all,
arrived at certain theroys and have later found out
that other people, throughout history have arrived to
the same conclutions [kurt schwitters, william s
burroughs]

I however, do not feal that I can fully propperly
respond to your comments becaus of the fact that I am
unfamiliar with brutists. Could you send me some
information on this "brutism." Or, point me into a
direction that would lead me to a more articulate
understanding? I would like to more therowly
comprehend where you are coming from.

I too look forward to reading your paper Tobias,
thankyou for your contribution.

In retrospect, I believe that the text that you
originally repeated and retorted to was a comment of
the glorification of a bastardization of the arts.
