yeah well, all of us at radiovalve are also the spawn of the devil... so the
Real Audio thing fit right in.

actually at the time... 1998, Real was the only one seriously in the game
with streaming... and then of course Windows Media came on the scene, and
well, which spawn would you have chosen at the time?

Shoutcast did not come along until later, (although there were some "beta"
MP3 streaming technologies out there) and by then we had a bunch of legacy
data (shows) and no manpower to devote to re-encoding etc etc... 

so, sorry to dissapoint those "Real-challenged" internet radio consumers out
there... 

Think of RadioValve as one of those little stations subverting Reals
attempts at controlling a market... because in fact we are :)
