A quick comment:

I don't know why people have issues about the kind of posts they wish 
to receive on this list. The real issue should only be with posts 
that do not have clearly described 'subject lines'. As long as the 
subject is specified, it's a breeze to read what you want and delete 
the rest...

I've been lurking on this list for a while, occasionally 
participating in a given thread, & sometimes announcing events in 
case anyone is interested... and I've personally gone through 
different reading phases depending on interests of the moment. 
Occasionally, it's good to listen in on a good topical conversation, 
and other times I'll be in the mood to search out some specified 
MP3s... and I'm always interested in gig announcements when they are 
in my locale.

But when I'm not interested, I just delete by subject. Try it.
