one of my favourite discs ever is a compilation of mp3s by a swedish 
composer who has since (that was in 1998) taken his website online & never 
released a CDR or CD.  i had to burn the mp3s to disc in order to achieve a 
semblance of that.  his music is fantastic; so concentrated, extremely rich 
with detail, & full of surprises.  on top of all that, it's probably the 
catchiest electroacoustic CD i've ever heard.  i'm trying to get him to 
make a CD on my label but his response was along the lines of 'thanks for 
the offer, i'll contact you when i have good stuff.'  the way i understand 
it, he spends so much time on his music that he's completely sick of 
it.  that's quite perverse, isn't it?  i'm thinking of just releasing it & 
sending him a contract after the fact.  now, i don't know what that says 
about the need for more self-criticism from artists?

i think the individual who originally complained about the vainness of mp3
