In my experience this sort of infiltration has been going on for 
generations, but the results have been more subtle. Quite a few of my 
colleagues in the film sound, theatrical sound design, corporate 
media design, and theme park fields have considerable background and 
knowledge of the musical avant garde. These are people in the 40-60 
age range and in many cases are in senior positions within such 
organizations as Walt Disney Imagineering.
