Re: [microsound] grindcore & death metal
Yea I agree I love all the grindcore stuff as what the underground hip-hop
world has a ton to offer. I saw Daleck play in tampa a year ago, they opened
for a couple of shitty ass elcetro-clash acts, and it was sooo funny, all
these trendy ass indy rock disco wanna be kids where standing there and had
absolutly no-idea what the fuck they where seeing, they where totally
stunned, like deers caught in a cars headlights, what a great show. I dont
belive in listening to only one kind of music, but I dont think its wrong to
focus on one type of music either, I general get consumed with someone's
stuff, like I was addicted to pimmon forever. I think the bottom line for me
is if the work is creative and outside the drawn lines of complancey, I
generally will listen to it. Shit i have a sweet tooth for 70's pop and soul
as well. One recent grindcore show I saw of note was Cavity opening for
engine down in tampa, engine down is ok,they are a recent tampa band, ok
stuff, but Cavity killed the house, I think there is something in the water
in florida because some of the strongest grindcore and idm comes out of that
state as well some of the worst pop stars. I think the common thread between
grind and microosund is repetion and a harsh difficult sound palate. Both
are played out totally differently but they share commonalities or an
obcession with things extreme, I would love to do a dj set that mixed
microsound and grindcore, but I dont think anyone would dig it. oh well. I
dont think anyone digs anything. hehehe. Actually when I have played out in
tampa and NY my sets where totally nothing more than microsound played to
the mindset of a grindcore band, actaully the stuff was really immature and
just about having fun, its was cool, the last show I did in tampa everyone
cheered after the set, which meant they had fun. but like i said it was all
immature and probably wound not appeal to people with complex ego's.
