Karosta Project

Dear List,

Sara Kolster and I will be spending the next month in Karosta, Latvia, 
as part of an artist-in-residence program at the K@2 arts center. We are 
running a web-journal--complete with image, audio and video--of our stay 
here, and hope to keep you all updated on the work we are doing here.

Some plans and projects which are coming up:

1) Investigations of Soviet-era analog synthesizers
2) Collaborations with Kolka-Music artists OloOlo from Riga, as well as 
with local Russian and Latvian music makers in the more "remote" regions...
3) Field recordings which will be tagged with GPS coordinates to make an 
acoustic map of the city
4) Electroacoustic and recording workshops with young people from the region
5) Microsonic studies of the history of Karosta as captured in objects 
from daily life
