new to list / seeking online radio
Hello fellow audionauts,
I'm new to this list thanks to a pointer from D.King
in the "question" post on the rec.music.experimental newsgroup.
I'm quite impressed. At first, I was overwhelmed by the volume over the last
week or so, but I'm glad to find quality as well as quantity.
Had some fun doing some online globetrotting by checking out the links.
Also enjoyed eavesdropping on the discussions by the doctors here.
Beg your pardon if this is a frequently asked question but,
can anyone point me to internet radio broadcasts that feature what most
people would consider "difficult listening music"? I'm fond of idm, ambient
and drone, but I've access to plenty of that. I'm trying to catch up on the
old stuff or get tuned into the new explorers of what I guess is academic or
classical?
Keywords: minimalism, microtonal, musique concrete, 20th century new music,
experimental, lowercase.
Composers and/or artists similar to: John Cage, Steve Reich (my fave),
Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Feldman, Edgar Varese, Somei Satoh, LaMonte
Young, Alvin Lucier...
My search engine is coming up short. Shows like Herb Levy's "Mappings"
and Michael Tilson Thomas' "American Mavericks" have disappeared.
http://www.epitonic.com has some but I'm hungering for more.
Thanks for any tips,
Tom
