Vlad delay & jazz (OT?)
hi,
in my bi-annual fan-boy crazed trawl of the net for Vladislav Delay info /
interviews etc.. i stumbled upon an interview (possibly coinciding with a
MUTEK event..) where it was mention that he had completed a couple of "trad
jazz" tracks - one for an "academic Finnish Jazz" release (i paraphrase from
memory..) & possibly even another album of material featuring "conventional"
musicianship (drums, bass etc....) but still "recognisably (his/"my") style"
does anybody have any info at all about any of these releases/ recordings?
no i don't have the URL to hand, but i found it in Google on the first
couple of search pages...
I still think Entain is absolutely the best album ever (well, since music
for airports anyway ; ) ... ) & i would be interested to hear anything at
all vaguely resembling any kind of insight, assumed or otherwise, that
anyone may have into the "rationale" - particularly behind its rhythms &
arrangements...
"belligerant & indiscriminate blindfolded multitracking" perhaps?
is there anything in the rhythms & arrangements that links him directly to
any kind of other "trad jazz"? (of which i know almost nothing....)
sure, the dub & found sound aspect to the sound is pretty obvious....maybe
even a speech rhythm ... or two....in there....occasionally.....
sometimes... maybe......
?
thanks in advance (i hope)
