I just spent *quite* a bit of time looking for the same sorta thing. You're
gonna find it hard to find something for that price range, I fear.
Creative's Jukebox line are pretty amazing (that's what I went for, in the
end). They can encode mp3's in real-time of any bitrate so it wouldn't have
to be 128, or you can simply record .wav's. In fact, these are the only mp3
players that I cuold find that could do this. Everything else is geared
towards just listening. There's one other that could record, but not from a
microphone, just from the radio. They're more money, but the list of
features is enough to drool over, including the fact that since they're
firmware you can upgrade them for, say, future file formats.
