Audio editing apps for mac g4

I just purchased a 1 GHz mac g4 last week. I would like to start editing my
ensemble's (robot vs. rabbit) material with this machine. I need some
recommendations for some quality wave editing / sound processing software. I
don't have any extra money to fork out for programs right now. so if anyone
could suggest some free and or inexpensive apps that are worth checking out,
I would greatly appreciate it.
