I'll chime in. I was the one who made the original
piano roll vs. cecil taylor comment in reference
to visuals being put into automatic mode. I also
said that it is important to use the software
like it is an instrument. Spending time learning
it, practicing it, performing it. Nanncarrow
has obviously spent the time to learn, practice
and program it so that it sounds amazing. But
everytime you play it, it will sound the same.
Everytime Cecil plays, depending on the moment
he can take it anywhere.
How many microsounders out there work with
improvisational techniques. And is it simple
controlling of a preset sequence/song or is
it full generation of a soundscape from scratch?
How many people just press play?
