[OT] headphones...Monitors...

Thanks to everyone who provided recommendations for headphones.

I guess the general rule is to get a decent set of monitor speakers, so...

I have a Mac g4 using the built in soundcard can someone recommend what I 
might need to be able to clinically trust what I am hearing? I am interested 
in maybe dropping around 500$ on a set-up.

No need to reply to the list, as I think this tread has happened before, so 
please if you have a suggestion, reply to me off-list.
