Re: [microsound] POL-Re: [microsound] Politics in subject heading please
Pardon the faux pas. Mea Culpa.
I hadn't checked this mailbox for weeks.
At the time of my hasty post I think I was on number 75 of 400 emails.
I had forgotten that I was reading old mail
and didn't realize that the political threads had already died out.
It was way past my bedtime, I couldn't sleep and didn't think it would be too ambitious to clean out this mailbox. However, I wanted to be certain not to miss posts like the one with this link: http://www.crammed.be/konono/ for bookmarking.
Some of the politically related posts didn't have much substance and I was getting a little frustrated by the subject headings. For example, "sleepers awake" was (or is)the name of a syndicated music broadcast that featured new symphonic music. Expecting to find info on this show, I was disappointed when sifting through the thread.
While some of the politically related threads may not be
as informed and articulate as the journalists or essayists on these sites:
http://www.counterpunch.org/
http://www.guerrillanews.com/index.html
some seem to be and I do realize (after a plenty of sleep) that
discussing politics on any level is perhaps even more worthwhile then
discussing music and the arts.
However, I do find that most of the arts
and music related threads are more thoughtful than most of the
politically related threads here.
Obviously I could've been more thoughtful before posting the subject heading suggestion.
Considering Store's reply I guess I need to lurk here some more to get a feel as to what microsound is all about. Despite finding many posts disregarding the guidelines or discussing topics that seem to be outside the scope of the "digital aesthetic", I find plenty of link posts and discussion threads to compensate, thanks for being here folks.
Cheers,
AgentA
