Sad news indeed, and not OT at all- I've just been preparing a paper 
relating abstract films, and Brakhage's in particular, to 'abstract' music. 
In addition to the resources Brian mentions, there are short Brakhage clips 
at www.re-voir.com, although his incomparably beautiful work really ought to 
be seen in the cinema.
