montreal-specific: some special live action coming up

hey there everyone from montreal (or those hoping to visit this weekend),

just a note to inform you of the following performances, coming up
throughout the weekend:

1) first of all there is the 13th edition of the Rien a voir series, at
the museum of contemporary arts.  you can get all the details at
<http://www.rien.qc.ca/>, including today's series of free concerts (you
can still catch some of them if you read this email in the next hour or
so!)  invited composers are francois donato (france), alistair mcdonald
(scotland), stephane roy (quebec) & ake parmerud (sweden).  all of this
in an extraordinary concert setting, with pristine sound...  & on that subject--

2) no type's own rav-related series (called PRErien this time around)
moves into the premises of the museum for this edition & the upcoming
ones!  the concept is simple:  from friday to sunday, three short
concerts starting at 6 PM.  on friday, you can hear komsomolsk (philemon
from napalm jazz + julie rousse).  on saturday, bear witness to the
quebec city duo samiland...  & on sunday, the grande finale with coin
gutter from vancouver, a montreal premiere!  these shows are cheap ($5)
& the sound system is quite simply, awesome.  rounding up these shows
will be pieces from young composers from montreal.  an event definitely
worth attending, especially if you never experienced such a venue
before.  all details at the aforementioned URL...  to recap: friday to
saturday, MACM, 6 PM, five dollars.

3) in addition to this series, we will be hosting a small "off" event on
saturday at the rad'a gallery on gilford street (laurier metro),
including our 3 guests (coin gutter, samiland & komsomolsk) plus cal
crawford who incidentally just launched his debut CD on alex st-onge's
squint fucker press label.  on that occasion we will also be
pre-launching coin gutter's debut "real" CD, _all your dreams are
meaningless_, on the no type label, where else.  if you don't get your
copy on that day, you'll have to wait till april to find it in a store
near you!  so, rad'a gallery, saturday, 9 PM, five bucks, the chance of
your life.

4) & stay on the lookout for the double launch of the 4CD box set
_montreal free_, dedicated to montreal's new free improv!  tuesday 25 at
la sala rossa / wednesday 26 at le va-et-vient.  both venues: door opens
9 PM, 5$.  over 10 musicians present!  not so microsound-related, but
trust me, this will be massive!
