I personally wouldn't describe Magali's cd as being low-fi.  Maybe you
mean "low-tech" because of the homemade instruments. Actually, it sounds
to me like it was recorded in a very nice studio or with very nice mics.
But I agree, really good work regardless. Her piece on the upcoming
Tarkovsky compilation does have a low-fi edge to it, but that's partially
because she based it upon the sound design of Andrei Rublev. And relating
back to a previous discussion about Russian cinema and Paradjanov, I
think some of Magali's work on her cd reminds me of some of that
director's film work for some reason. I actually told her this, and now
she wants to look into it.  :)
