war

I like this list a lot and the current threads re: technology and war
politics.

Although i am learning a great deal from the various contributions I find
that we are succumbing to the culture of war and its antagonistic stance.
For years now I have struggled with a colonial and colonised mindset and
there are wars on so many levels now, that even the appraisal of information
is itself a cultural and ideological battlefield.

As a UK citizen I have to address ant- americanism in all its generality.
Our democratic societies , at root, are the the extensions of all our
personal desires embodied in a political system. If it were not, would we
not challenge it? Therefore the UK , historically and currently with the US
and various Western democracies in their pursuit of economic hegemony are
the major source of the current climate of conflict.

I have looked at global mechanisms for challenging this "way of life"and I
am hopeful that a nomadic migrant self determination can be produced to
filter the mainstream culture. This list itself is one example of a forum
for information and discourse

On a personal level its down to the individual and their appraisal of their
place in their intimate communities The "battle" for "hearts and minds" is
waged there. Our use of cultural resources as "artists" of technology can be
used to "liberate" community oppression and produce "uprisings" which
challenge the personal detachment that we as viewers of distant power
structures and powerplays feel impotent to influence.

I am responsible for any pain and conflict I see. As a resident of an
economically and culturally deprived urban construction, I endure it daily.
Are you prepared to accept your responsibility?
