ok, while i'm at it, as a novitiate microsounder letting his cat out the =
bag as it were....

i come from a guitar / sonwriting background where coming up with a =
structure for something was literally as easy as writing X4/ X8/ X12 a =
lot & fairly il-liberal usage of the letters A,B, & C, possibly =
occasionally featuring the word "bridge" or "outro"....

now however - after lots of wierd inpenetrable ghost like granular =
murmurings & sounds of found objects falling haphazardly down the stairs =
etc etc that i've been doing intermittently over the last year or so =
(since buying my pc..)

..i am in something of a bind as to how one might potentially start =
approaching "the bigger picture" of laying out a more "soundscape", =
potentially beatless work of more than say 3 or 4 minutes duration....

so could some of u more experienced folks perhaps share your thoughts on =
the "macro" of "micro" as it were?

do you randomally process & manipulate audio indiscriminately, get a =
whole pool of audio fragments, & then arbitralily start stringing/ =
knitting them together? or do you have more of a feel for the whole =
first & start colouring in between the lines as it were?

just some general words of advise perhaps would be of use to me i hope =
at this stage, for creating tension & release & a sense of linear =
progression (or not) in time - & to what extent your processes or =
working methods are bound by a pre-concieved map, or allow u to =
improvise/ assemble in real time from a well organised library of =
sounds/ loops.....

& to what extent r u conscious of the kind of conventions that work well =
in sound designing for then having to take these sounds & string/ layer =
them together in larger wholes.? (ie - if u r indiscriminately =
generating sonic experiments without much of a big picture scenario =
initially, are u exporting/ configuring these with any particular mind =
to how they may subsequently be used in a larger piece later on?)

perhaps with a bit of assistance i might then consider contributing to =
one of these communal "microjam" projects i see coming up from time to =
time on this list...

hope that make sense & that someone has some useful insight.

thanks to you all.
