i used to be a person who played out with a pc and mixer setup but
spent all my time on my mixer, muting channels in and out, heavily
EQing sounds and generally doing as much as possible live. while i was
doing this i was quite suspicious of the laptop brigade because of the
missing visual element of performance, certainly jokes about checking
email and whatever were mentioned. since then i have come to the
realisation that most music is about listening and the aural
experience, there is something nice about there being less ego involved
with these less performative forms of music. someone jumping around the
stage doesn't make for good music.
just my opinion, it'll probably have changed in a few hours,
