RE: [microsound] Sci_Fi
Not specifically Dhalgren, more a general Samuel Delaney fan. The
Neveryon series grabbed me - perhaps I should say - spoke to me more
deeply, than Dhalgren, but then I havent got around to finishing
Dhalgren yet. In a very apt way, my copy of Dhalgren is literally
falling to pieces as I read it. As I read, the pages fall out, and as I
put them back in at random, the book is re-ordered behind me as I go.
After coming across others similarly _specifically_ into Dhalgren,
without fail, they are all from the USA (and I am not). Perhaps it taps
into a particularly american cultural vein. What do you folks think it
is about Dhalgren that seems to cause it to be held up with such deep
reverence?
Babel 17 also great, as is "Stars in my Pocket like Grains of Sand" -
possibly the most poetic book title ive ever come across.
