of the unique quality of each listening environment and the various
contexts we all listen to things in.
After 4:33, it seems everything was open to the idea that only part of the
work is being done on stage and the rest happens in the room, in the
audience, the sounds from outside, etc.
Hence my experience of _Sonatas & Interludes_ on my stereo in my living
room is shared with the sounds of traffic from a couple miles away and the
occasional outburst of the kids playing in the backyard next door. Your
experience of it on your MP3 player on the subway is filled with a
completely different set of additions. Pretty indeterminate if you ask me.
