I've seen green sludge produced by "old-fashioned", "expressive" artists
too. Not all bad art is conceptual/process-oriented.

Often, but not always. And why does art have to be personal/expressive?

They can also communicate amazing things by *not* trying to control
every detail of a piece and letting things come to the surface by
themselves.
