j.frede biography:
j.frede is an experimental music composer who works with sound
ranging from field recordings to electro-acoustic atmospheres, microsound
subtleties to ambient soundscapes, live performances to audio installations.
Currently Frede is working with field recordings of both natural and urban
environments and digital compositions built using acoustic sounds.

When performing live j.frede utilizes a variety of PC based software to
write
compositions in real time using found sounds and digital manipulations.
The installation work is designed to create subtle listening environments in
galleries and performance spaces. Each installation follows a conceptual
basis and is achieved using multiple cd players, 2" speakers, and
compositions specific to the installation.

Originating from a small town in New Mexico (usa) located in the great
plains,
the stark environment had a lasting effect on how james frederick (j.frede)
approached art and sound.

j.frede has been working in the field of experimental audio and sound design
for
close to a decade. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Frede did a
substantial
amount of work out of Denver Colorado from 1997 - 2001. at which time he
moved
to Europe for a short time, touring and traveling as much as possible. Apon
returning to the United States in early 2002 settling in Los Angeles, CA.

about the crest series packaging -
unprepared piano is the first in the "crest series" packaging.
Each package is handstamped, cut and assembled kraft paper envelope's,
with a full color postcard insert. the design for the crest series was
inspired
by vintagemail that has seen the wear of travel and the ageing of time. the
series is not sold with a protective plastic sleeve with the intention of
each
cd developing its own 'wear and tear' over the years.
