ARTIST INFORMATION

LASSE MARHAUG

"Marhaug has an impressive range at his fingertips, veering wildly from
shock tactic maximal noise, to near silent contemplative drones...He
adopts an approach midway between Merzbow and the Mego label at its
wackiest and most abrasive" (Ed Pinsent, THE SOUND PROJECTOR)

Lasse Marhaug is one of the innovators of the Norwegian=20
noise/experimental
scene. With over a hundred releases under various constellations of=20
labels
all over the world (as a solo artist and in collaborations and with
various bands), he is quite a prolific artist. Best known as half of the
glitch-electronic duo Jazzkammer (with John Hegre), he has also made=20
music
for for films and video projects, and runs Jazzassin Records. Marhaug is
now out with his first solo album since 1996`s Science Fiction Room
Service. Entitled titled Nothing But Sound =46rom Now On, it is his =
first
created entirely on computer. His music, though sharing a great deal=20
with
Japanese underground artists like Merzbow and the Mego crew from=20
Austria,
is rather distinctive. Extremely rich in details, Marhaug creates layers
of sound that slowly reveal themselves as you listen. The music ranges
from open spaces to cut-ups and extreme digital brutalism; using blips=20=

and
clicks set atop deep soundscapes, Marhaug manages to create impressive
shimmers and swirls of sound.

ALEXANDER RISHAUG

=93.. a careful alternation between chaos and predictability, fuzzy=20
clicks,
mildly overdriven, yet uneasily hushed shifting chords, and Oval-like
uneasy ambience that makes this release gel=94 (The Wire)

Alexander Rishaug is part of the innovative electronic scene in Norway
together with Jazzkammer, Alog, Biosphere, Phonophani and Lasse Marhaug.
With minimalist electronics, abstract beats, glitches and digital noise,
he explores tones and textures creating a detailed, rich and subtle=20
sound
but always with a sharp focus on structure, rhythm and melodies.=20
Smalltown
Supersound released his magnificent debut album Panorama in 2002.
=94Rishaug's constructions are like readymades waiting to be plucked =
from
the ground, deadweight solids with a come-hither glint.=94 (Phillip
Sherbourne, NEEDLE DROPPS) Rishaug is also a part of the improv trio ARM
with Arne Borgan and Are Mokkelbost (Single Unit) which has sparked off
collaborations with musicians such as H=E5kon Kornstad, Tonny Klyften,=20=

John
Hegre, Lasse Marhaug, Toshimaru Nakamura and Salvatore.

SIR DUPERMANN

=94Norwegian super-producer J=F8rgen Traen aka Sir Dupermann has drawn =
on=20
the
influences of buddies R=F6yksopp and Kim Hiorth=F8y to create a =
mind-blowing
debut album of hi-NRG free-jazz click-pop. Speaker-shredding!=94 (Paul
Johnson UNCUT)

J=F8rgen Traen aka Sir Dupermann is the Norwegian producer for artists=20=

like
Jaga Jazzist, Magnet and Sondre Lerche, and the man behind Duper Studio
(home of R=F8yksopp, Kings of Convenience, Jaga Jazzist et. al.). After
years of doing production he decided to finally concentrate on his own
music, and finish the longtime work on his debut album. Traen moved to
London where he stayed for 6 months completing the self-titled debut
album. Out of the wildest chaos of sounds and rhythms, Traen has created
an album of very compromiseless pop with a very structured, detailed and
complex sense of beauty. Using his fantastic production skills and=20
arsenal
of machines, he has created something organic and warm, and a soundworld
all of his own.
