i think the alesis nanosynth is about the smallest "rack" synth i can think
of..

are you looking for a portable composing thingy? then the different yamaha
"notepad" things are propably the best bet. remember, you can go all the way
to the first qy10 on the used market. lower on specifications but also lower
on price...
