Re: microsound Digest 4 Nov 2003: weird...

And for those who missed it, there was also a small article about the
microsound list group (and mp3 projects) in the October issue of Wire
magazine. It was part of the "go to:" section under "the inner sleeve"
section.
"Microsound (microsound.org), a mailing list dedicated to the discussion
of digital and, less obviously, "post digital" music, is not limited to
genre, as they state in the introduction, but instead addresses a general
digital aesthetic manifesting across a wide variety of styles.
Microsound.org has become a hub hosting music projects spurred on by list
members. Lovingly set up like compilation albums ready to download, these
are MP3 lists complete with specially designed covers. Projects include
City Of The Future (a series of remixes from Tarkovsky's Solaris
soundtrack), Pi (music inspired by the mathematical equation - all tracks
are 3'14" long), and Watermann ( a set of six minute-long tributes to the
late underground sound and visual artist John W). Microsound members have
access to a server used for raw material to be picked up by participating
list members."
