not really...I've dealt with McLuhan's work for a long time and was even
lucky to have met his daughter back in '89 or so and talk with her about her
life with her father...she even gave me a book of his letters which I
enjoyed very much...
anyway, my axiom is not meant to draw a distinction between
tool/medium...you seem to have missed the point...the point of my little
'mantra' is that the tool is now the message (in most media arts) whereas
the medium is no longer the message...the tool and the medium are
intersecting sets but do not share all the same elements...a hammer is not
architecture any more than a laptop is music...
