Art and meaning (Warning: intellectual discussion)

This equals to the proposition: "a kiss is just an exchange of saliva". From
a certain positivist perspective it is true, but it is not the whole story,
the essence of the kiss is missing.

If so, then why all the interest in it? Is good art expressive of a "good
subjectivity", and what would that be? Is an artist really that interesting?
Would we want to deal with her self-expression if there wasn't more to it? I
think not.
