Re: [microsound] noise?

Your collective essay has been informative - inspired even.
The parallels drawn between noise and abstract expressionism, though=20
perhaps simplified, seem quite relevant. Issues of aesthetics, context,=20=

perception and cultural point of reference are particularly helpful.=20
Quotes, links, and references have been noted. Assuredly DR, I impress=20=

the ladies by talking about the hottest new hip-hop single and by=20
engaging in witty, and occasionally shallow conversation about current=20=

events in popular culture (barring politics and war, of course), like=20
the Paris Hilton sex vid (anyone have the version where she is smoking=20=

crack?) and which open bars are on which nights. I usually save the=20
parade of accumulated knowledge for these lists. Dont make me quote the=20=

bible.

On the subject of quotes - this one sent to me by my roomate who is=20
particularly fond of what i perceive as noisy sound/art/music:

" There is no difference between noise and music in my work. I have no=20=

idea what you term =91music' and =91noise', it's different depending on=20=

each person. If noise means uncomfortable sound, then pop music is=20
noise to me."
