Re: [microsound] linux questions
wav editor: rezound
mp3 player: xmms, alsaplayer
recording: rezound, ardour [for multitrack + arranging, with jack low
latency server!], jack-rack [for plugins], jamin [for mastering]
synthesis: pure data, ams, amsynth, spiralmodularsynth
etc: Planet CCRMA packages...
first install Red Hat or Fedora of your choice, then install Planet
CCRMA, which gives you a full selection of Linux sound and video apps:
http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/
If you are used to Debian, you can also apt-get install demudi-all. See
www.agnula.org for details.
Slackware has Audioslack, and Mandrake has Turn-key. All are good
options to install a ton of audio apps plus an optimized audio kernel at
once.
good luck,
D.
