HeadTheater #32: Christopher Willits live performance
- night of December 12th, 2003
Artist Christopher Willits will be in Chicago this
weekend for 3 performances. Friday night on
Headtheater radio, Willits will be doing a realtime
broadcast as a warm-up to his live show the following
evening with Carpark's Greg Davis at Chicago's 3030
venue, an old church converted into a performance
space that apparently never has a cover charge. Then
on Monday, Willits will perform again at Danny's
Tavern. Having recently finished up an east coast fall
tour, the three Chicago performances will be a
fascinating look into the self-organizing musical
systems and interactive sound structures that populate
his work. Check out his excellent releases 'Folding,
and the Tea' and E*A*D*G*B*E available on 12k (NYC)
which showcase the unusual processed-guitar techniques
which produce his unique laptop-folk sound. With
another release available on Fallt and a follow-up
album planned for 12k in 2004, Willits continues to
cultivate his guitar-based musical origami.
