ami yoshida is definitely to be heard for her very unique approach to
vocal performance. I think her work is also very releveant to this
list. she sounds are very quiet and high pitched, occasionally letting
more glottal sounds interrupt whines and whispers. I have her CD
-tiger thrush- and am fascinated by it, how she balances something very
awkward sounding on lines between subtle beauty and aggressive noise.
along the same lines is (norwegian?) maja ratke. (don't know if she's
been brought up in this thread) very different from yoshida, but she
uses very extended techniques in very aggressive and creative
compositions and performances that are truly singular.
both have been pressing their influence on my recent vocal performances
and compositions and stuff.
