i think this is the good introduction to this email.
am an art historian. if you all realized there has been a great interest
in the last couple of years in the 'sound art' and in the sound and
music itself.
for me the eternal q. is what is art? beside what is love, who is me,
who is other. it is obviously i dont want to find the final answer
because than i would have to stop searching for the answer. and this
would: in my western mind, at this level, mean passivity.
my view:
so sound art, with historical connotations (because of the rigid
combination of sound and art, and its long history in the previous
century) for me means the xperiments with frequency, tonality..be
whatever formal aspect..so it is more formalistic..as it also has
historical connotations.
so now in 004 all the other things with the sound, music, tools, open
source, rave parties as everyday protest etc online publishing and
distribution.. the social aesthetic is beside formal aestehic..so here
we go with ungrasping definitions..of what today a 'sound art' is.
anyhow at this moment i am telling to the list (although my voice maybe
wont be read, because..it is still that voices are not heard..in this
case this is not necessarily or complitely bad, because there is no evil
present)
it is the exhibition called Area Collaborativa.
it explores (shows): collectivness, collaboration, dispersed authorship,
art as creativity, expertism, attitude and state of mind.
the map (exhibition rooms:1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
http://www.galerija.skuc-drustvo.si/skuc2.html
so thats why in the room 1 (while entrance is 5) - which has huge
windows, so people can see inside frm outside - i as a museum-gallery
worker want to present projects of microsound mailing list. projects
where, i believe authorship was in a way blurred, projects that were
organised with new tools, made with this tools, projects that were or
were not done only with institutional art in mind.
so the sound of microsound list (and the documentation of the projects,
a webpage) will be heard (and seen).
but in the same room, full with the sound of microsound, selected linux
screensavers will be projected (a totaly non-institutional art) ...and
you will be able to see it from the outside.
so this is it. lets have fun.

this is what i would like area kolaborativa exhibition would be about.
for goodnite 4 me:
a friend she dj recently told me, i was also studiing art, but then i
started to deal with music, because it is more direct.
p&l,

ps
i also think you should leave the list open. it is the nature of
technology. tech should not be for control. but for connectivness,
expressing, creating, communicating, sharing and fun.
the crime&punishment is totaly another story.
