[microsound] wrong kiosk
Speaking only for myself I have to say that the playlists and promos are
dull, but easily dealt with. Some of the 'philosphical discussion' though, is much
harder to bear, it takes me a good four minutes or so before I realise that
it is yet another competition entry in the endless quest to write the longest
most 'referential' (read erudite) post in any particular thread. I guess it is
hard to find some kind of middle ground that suits everybody. It's good to be
informed about what people are doing, what is being released, what people
think. Its just as dull to read about how clever some of us are as it is to read
about what everybody is listening to. Reading some of those playlists makes me
laugh...come on, really, doesn't anybody listen to anything outside of the
remit of this list? It's excruciating sometimes! I hope Im not offending anybody
here, but one thing that I dont ever seem to feel from most of the posting is
Fun. I am not inspired or encouraged by displays of intellectual brilliance,
but I am moved by people's passions and enjoyment.
I have been here from the start (I think) and I seem to notice that as our
particular field of endeavour has crept ever closer to the mainstream, we seem
to have become quieter. For me, this is just one aspect of my creative output
and I would hate to be pigeon holed as a 'microsound' composer (or whatever
label we have). At the end of the day, this is stuff that I want to listen to and
create, not read about. And if I really do want to read about it, I will get
a book.
in peace
Rob
