[microsound] 8-bit new years resolution
1) For every five days spent in front of the computer, a minimum of two
in nature. [This could be more difficult than expected. In Holland, for
example, all the trees are planted in straight lines.]
2) Learn what makes a computer more than a synthesizer with mouse and
screen. Write a song in C.
3) Refuse to handle money. All those who would like a lecture,
performance or workshop from me will have to either pay my bills
directly or deliver groceries to my flat. [Note to future employers: I
eat Mexican or Indian.]
4) Location. Context. Academic noise for the fashion show. Booty bass
for the conservatory.
5) Monastic retreat: 100 days. 100 tracks. [Quality is unimportant.]
6) Collaborate with people I have never met and whose work I admire
greatly. [Toshiya Tsunoda, Peter Greenaway, Def Jux, Mou Lips!, Phil
Niblock, Sogar, Pauline Oliveros, Chris Watson, Otomo Yoshihide, Steve
Roden...]
7) Collaborate [more] with people I have met and whose work I admire
greatly. [Jed Whitaker, Kevin P, Yannick Dauby, Sara Kolster, Stephan
Mathieu, Tim Hecker, Andrei Savitsky, Luka Princic, Borut Savsky,
Sachiko M, Jaromil, Marko Peljhan, Christian Toonk, Maksim Borisov, Bas
van Koolwijk, Ryan Parteka, Jon Wozencroft...]
8) Once and for all convince those people who only care about the
product that it is really all about the process.
Feel free to adopt, adapt and expand.
Happy new years,
D.
