framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

this edition followed a clearspot hosted by filmmaker william english, who presented 90 minutes of untreated field recordings he made in dorset last year. william presented me with the material from the clearspot and asked me to compose a response to it as a way to tie the two programs together, and this, after an intro also recorded for us by william, is how we began the show. this was followed by an exploration of the void/full compilation on the greek antifrost label, as well as a mix of tracks from the recent split cd by sumugan sivanesan and duran vasquez with some untreated recordings taken in latvia by derek holzer, and some recent sounds by jim haynes (both solo and in his duo with loren chasse, coelacanth) and michael trommer.

once again i am very nearly out of framework introductions, so if you've been thinking about submitting one, now's the time. any format recorded with a broken dictaphone or the latest high-end dat is great, we like a variety! and there are still some copies of the framework benefit cd left; see details for both intros and cds below the playlist.

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition or introduction submissions. send material, released or not, on any format, to the address below. we are also hoping to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in or passing through london please get in touch!
